Senior Software Engineer (Product & Automation)
If you are tired of corporate tape, endless meetings, and waiting two weeks for a Business Analyst to hand you a perfectly manicured ticket before you can write a line of code - keep reading. At Little Hinges, we are transforming the property market by turning physical spaces into actionable digital intelligence. We don't just build world-class virtual tour platforms; we process massive amounts of property data from capture sources to build automated data pipelines and industry first property valuation models with millions of unique inspections every month. We are a fast-paced scale-up on a mission and our roadmap is packed with incredibly cool, complex problems to solve, and we prioritise momentum and capability over hierarchy and lengthy processes. We are looking for a Senior Engineer who is a
Pragmatic Builder . You’ll work directly with our Head of R&D;, Data Engineer, and our offshore and junior developers. You won't just be a cog in a machine; you will have the autonomy to look at a commercial problem, collaborate on the technical solution, and just go build it. If you love balancing traditional development practises with utilising AI coding assistants to max your output, spinning up automated workflows, and having a direct impact on a rapidly scaling platform, this is your playground. What you'll do Build and scale the core platform, fix bugs, and ship features. Rapidly build internal tools and automations (e.g. field capture tooling, operational efficiency tools) that support business and roadmap. Scope your own work: understand the commercial "why," identify edge cases, write the tickets, execute. Review offshore contributions and mentor a junior developer. Use AI coding tools to move fast on MVP, design and lightweight apps Work closely with the Head of R&D; to stay connected and deliver on the vision Split: roughly 70% hands-on building, 30% scoping,
review, and mentoring.
Who You Are: You speak "Business" and "Code":
You are a systems thinker who connects the dots between a core platform, peripheral apps, and automated tools without creating technical debt. You hate doing things twice:
If a process is manual, your first instinct is to write a script or build an automation. You thrive in ambiguity:
You don't freeze when acceptance criteria aren't 100% defined. You ask the right questions, fill in the blanks, and make smart technical trade-offs. You are organised.
There is a lot of freedom and trust to build towards our roadmap,, but this requires a level of organisation, communication and documentation to ensure we stay aligned the whole way through. Experience Required: Robust background in Full-Stack Development specifically in Typescript, Nest.js, React/Next.js and Node, Experience shipping and maintaining production web applications used by real customers. Proven experience working autonomously to gather requirements and translate them into technical scopes Experience running and scaling cloud services in production (AWS or equivalent), including relational and NoSQL databases. Git: maintain clean history, structuring changes for review, comfortable resolving conflicts and rebasing. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows. Building context layers and tooling around them, and verifies generated code rather than trusting it. Experience debugging production systems with observability tooling (Datadog, PostHog, or similar) Nice to have: Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment is highly regarded. Experience or exposure building data pipelines, working with APIs, and implementing heavy automation Exposure to Prisma or modern TS ORMs, Docker/ECS + IaC (Terraform) and React Native/Flutter
Note: The hiring manager for this role is Erin - Head of R&D; for cover letter address.
