New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua Current Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

About the role We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Mine Technical Services team to support our underground capital projects. In this role you will play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure that supports the Life of Mine strategy. Working closely with the Site Capital Projects team, you will develop engineering scopes, technical designs, project schedules, cost estimates and capital approval documentation while planning and coordinating underground infrastructure projects, including dewatering, water supply, pumping systems, mine services and associated infrastructure. You will prepare excavation designs for pump stations, substations, service holes and other capital developments, and lead raise bore projects such as ventilation raises, escapeways, service raises, dewatering raises and ore/waste passes from concept through to execution. Partnering with Mining, Geotechnical, Ventilation, Survey, Maintenance and Operations teams, you will ensure infrastructure is integrated into short, medium- and long-term mine plans, delivered ahead of mining requirements and executed safely, on schedule and within budget. You will also manage consultants, contractors and vendors, prepare technical studies, risk assessments, tender documentation and project execution plans, while ensuring all engineering designs comply with statutory requirements, site standards and industry best practice. A strong focus on continuous improvement, project performance and delivering practical engineering solutions will be central to your success in this role.

You will model safety behaviours and coach and develop your team, working with your team to assess and manage risk.



NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, with strong ability in delivery to support the mines successful operation whilst coordinating the efforts of your team members to complete projects according to plan in a timely and safe manner.

About you As the successful candidate, you will bring demonstrated experience in a similar underground mining or technical services role, with proven expertise in planning and delivering underground infrastructure and capital projects. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline and possess strong technical, project management and stakeholder engagement skills. Your ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and deliver practical engineering solutions in a dynamic underground mining environment will be key to your success. Experienced working in a developing nation highly regarded.
