The Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) is back – and we’re looking for experienced, passionate and qualified chefs and cooks to help us deliver an unforgettable culinary experience to hundreds of thousands of visitors!

This is your chance to be part of one of Queensland’s most iconic events, working in an exciting, high-energy environment with a diverse range of premium food outlets, including:

- Our Flagship A la Carte Steakhouse
- Iconic Stockman's Grill
- Charred Award Winning Beef & Lamb
- Dagwood Dogs

Must be available: 9 August - 17 August 2025 (availability from 4th of August desired but not compulsory)

Key responsibilities:

- Showcasing your confident and creative cooking style, with a focus on presentation and consistency
- Leading by example and coordinating your section with strong delegation and communication skills
- Managing the preparation and production of all hot and cold menu items
- Upholding high standards in food quality, safety, storage, and hygiene
- Taking part in menu planning and day-to-day food service delivery
- Keeping your cool under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Working collaboratively with your team and ensuring service runs smoothly
- Delivering flexible, guest-focused service with a can-do attitude

What we are looking for:

- Fully qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar kitchen workplace (desired)
- Experienced in high-end, fast-paced restaurants or commercial kitchen settings
- Available across the full Ekka period (9 – 17 August 2025)




- Comfortable with early starts, late finishes, and flexible working hours
- Passionate about delivering exceptional food and guest experiences
- Skilled in time management, problem solving and kitchen coordination

About Us

The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) proudly owns and operates the Brisbane Showgrounds, home to Ekka and over 300 events each year. Just 1.5km from the CBD, this 22-hectare precinct includes the five-star Royal International Convention Centre (RICC) and the buzzing King Street dining precinct.
