Cloverdale

Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is the peak body for people living with mental health challenges in Western Australia. We are a lived experience organisation who are 100% Peer-led.

About the role

We are recruiting for 2 roles 0.6-0.8 FTE (3-4 days a week) with 6-12 month contracts available. One role is specifically for delivery of the ASPIRE (Advancing Successful Peer Inclusion and Readiness for Employment) program.

The primary role of the Learning and Development Officer is to deliver training to consumers, Lived Experience (Peer) workers (those who are aspiring, emerging and established), and supporting organisations working in the Lived Experience (Peer) space. As the peak body for consumers of mental health services, CoMHWA has a focus on supporting those in the Lived Experience Peer mental health space while also delivering to the wider Lived Experience community in services focused on family, domestic and sexual violence, health, disability, homelessness, incarceration, First Nations, suicide intervention and young people.

CoMHWA's training is trauma-informed, person-centred, culturally appropriate, grounded in Lived Experience (Peer) values and reflects best-practice adult learning. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take part in parts of the training lifecycle: training needs analysis, training design and development, delivery of training, and evaluation training.

How to be successful:

Write a cover letter of no more than 2 pages explaining how your work experience meets the essential minimum requirements and desirable requirements.

Applications that do not provide a cover letter that addresses the selection criteria will not be considered. If you require assistance applying, please contact CoMHWA.

Essential minimum requirements for both positions:

- Previous experience in adult education or workshop/group facilitation with demonstrated ability to deliver to participants from diverse backgrounds.

- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities. We will ask you to deliver a short 7 minute presentation at interview.

- Understanding or willingness to gain an understanding of the Lived Experience (Peer) workforce, consumer education and the mental health sector in WA.

- Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and as part of a team to deliver outcomes.

- Ability to undertake travel within WA to deliver training.

- It is a genuine occupational qualification of this position to have a lived experience of mental health/social and emotional wellbeing issues and recovery in accordance with section 66(s)(c) of the Equal Prospect Act 1984. All employees at CoMHWA meet this requirement.

Essential minimum requirement for the ASPIRE position:

ASPIRE is a six day in-person program delivered at CoMHWA's premises to consumers with Lived Experience who are interested in entering the paid or unpaid Lived Experience (Peer) workforce. To apply for this position you must show you have delivered training/workshops to small groups of diverse participants.

Desirable requirements

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain)

- Experience designing and developing training materials, resources, and curricula tailored to diverse audiences.

- Previous experience in the community services or mental health sector

In addition to the advertised salary the successful applicant will have the option to participate in a very attractive tax reducing salary packaging scheme. Please note positions advertised at CoMHWA are usually on a 6-12 month cycle due to the funding cycles experienced by not for profit organisations. There are no "permanent" positions available at CoMHWA. Please visit the CoMHWA website to find out more about our organisation and to download a copy of the full Job Description Form.

Applications should include a resume and a cover letter which addresses the selection criteria in the JDF. If you use AI in the course of preparing your application, please include a short statement declaring your use of AI.

Applications close 5:00pm Monday 24 August 2026. Please note that shortlisting will commence immediately and interviews may be scheduled before the closing date. Please understand due to competing work priorities only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
