Aeroo is a fast-growing Australian drone company designing and selling purpose-built drones for fishing, adventure, and specialist applications. We operate across Australia, New Zealand, and internationally, with a strong direct-to-consumer focus and expanding wholesale and global operations.

We are now bringing our finance function in-house and are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to own the day-to-day financial engine of the business.

The Role

This is a practical, accounting-focused role, not a corporate or people-management position.

You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, structure, and visibility of Aeroo’s finances — owning daily accounting operations, cash flow management, inventory financial control, and internal reporting. You’ll work closely with the founder and external accountants, enabling better decision-making as the business scales.

This role replaces outsourced bookkeeping and aims to improve the accuracy of our reporting and cash flow.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Controls

- Managing all day-to-day accounting across AU, NZ, and other entities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- FX exposure management
- Ensure Xero data integrity and chart of accounts accuracy
- Lead month-end close and prepare management accounts

Cash Flow & Financial Reporting

- Conduct cash flow forecasting (including rolling 13-week forecasts)
- Monitor working capital and flag cash risks early
- Identify opportunities for expense optimisation and margin improvement

Inventory & Cost Control





- Work with the web and warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory and COGS information.
- Reconcile inventory across Xero, Shopify, and 3PLs
- Monitor slow-moving or excess stock and recommend actions
- Support purchasing decisions through reorder point analysis

External Accountant & Compliance Liaison

- Act as the primary internal finance contact for external accountants
- Prepare clean handovers for:
- BAS / GST (AU & NZ)
- Year-end accounts
- Tax compliance
- Ensure compliance inputs are accurate and timely
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis for advisors, banks, or insurers

What we're looking for:

- 5+ years experience in accounting / finance roles
- Strong Xero experience (essential)
- Experience with inventory-based, e-commerce, wholesale, or hardware businesses
- Comfortable owning AP/AR, reconciliations, and reporting end-to-end
- Confident working with multiple entities and currencies
- Commercially minded — able to explain numbers clearly to non-accountants
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a founder-led setting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
