About our School:

Established in 1954, our school currently has over 1,000 students, including 70 boarders. Staff at both of the school's campuses work closely together to deliver a unique learning experience to all students. About the Role:

As an agricultural assistant you will:

help the school operate efficiently and effectively by providing a high level of agricultural systems support to nominated school staff
make sure the school's agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery, equipment, chemicals and chemical applicators are kept secure, safe and functional
help prepare school field projects, exhibits and agricultural demonstrations as part of general school activities

Your specific duties may include the following:

Preparing agricultural field sites, agricultural machinery, equipment and materials.
Planting, watering and caring for crops and market gardens, and related duties.



This includes regular physical maintenance and using appropriate insecticides and fertilizers where necessary.
Feeding and caring for animals.
Cleaning animal pens, and related duties.
Taking straightforward measurements (e.g. weighing crop yields).
Performing animal husbandry, crop and soil improvement, and other enhancement activities.
Distributing and collecting class sets of tools, equipment and materials.
Supporting teachers during practical agricultural class activities.
Providing general help with teaching material for agricultural classes.
Monitoring safety and first-aid requirements in the agricultural department.

Key Attributes:

Experience or a willingness to work with teachers and secondary students.
Flexible and adaptable to working across two campuses.
Self-motivating with the ability to work independently and follow instructions when given.
Ability to show initiative and step in to provide support as needed.
Having a light rigid bus licence, or the ability to get one, would be preferred.
