Primary objective
Support the ongoing records disposal program by appraising and disposing of records in accordance with current and
approved disposal schedules and in accordance with the Northern Territory Government’s (NTG) records management
principles, standards and practices.

Context statement
Information Services provides best practice advice and records management services to NTG client agencies. Structured into
several work teams, a wide range of services are delivered including training development and delivery, courier and mail
services, records management, help desk services, records appraisal, sentencing and disposal, digital policy, Freedom of
Information and Privacy.

Key duties and responsibilities
1.



Process records for appraisal and disposal by consulting with records owners, organising records into active, semi-active

and inactive groupings, and sentencing them against retention and disposal authorities.
2. Update the EDRMS with disposal decisions and liaise with relevant stakeholders to review and resolve system issues.
3. Provide advice and support to client agencies on a range of appraisal and disposal matters.
4. Initiate and provide accurate, expert advice in relation to the development, delivery and maintenance of relevant services

and the identification of potential risks, sensitivities and solutions.
5. Research and analyse relevant information and data and manage small projects.
6. Contribute to a culture of continuous business process improvement with suggestions for improvements to work tasks

and business practices.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Previous experience managing records, including their appraisal, archiving and disposal, in compliance with relevant

principles, standards and procedures.
2. Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to plan tasks, manage changing priorities and deliver quality

outcomes.
3. Ability to research, analyse, review and verify information and make evidence-based recommendations.
4. Qualified and courteous communication skills with the ability to provide accurate advice and responsive client service.
5. Ability to work collaboratively to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and clients and maintain

confidentiality and discretion.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical

practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.

Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Recordkeeping
