Primary objective
The Senior Project Manager East Arnhem region undertakes planning, co-ordination and delivery of housing construction projects
simultaneously in a number of remote communities, ensuring local decision-making outcomes and adherence to national standards,
timing and budget.

Context statement
The Housing Land Servicing unit is responsible for delivering a 10-year remote housing capital works program, across 73 remote
communities in the Northern Territory that will deliver new houses and additional living spaces with a focus on local decision
making. The Commonwealth and Northern Territory Governments have committed to a joint $4 billion investment over 10 years
for housing in remote communities across the Northern Territory which will make significant inroads to improving the living
conditions of remote Territorians.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible for managing all phases of delivery for new and extended housing in primarily remote communities from planning,

pre-construction through to construction delivery and handover.
2. Perform responsibilities of Principal Project Officer and on behalf of the Superintendent for housing capital works contracts

ensuring compliance with contract conditions.
3. Ensure housing construction projects are delivered within budget and timeframe including monitoring quality assurance of

construction in challenging and complex remote environment settings.
4. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with contractors and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.
5. Conduct site visits to construction projects and ensure the project is being delivered within scope, conducting pre-handover

inspections on new and extended constructed homes.
6. Regularly update relevant data and reporting systems and ensuring a high standard of accuracy is maintained.
7. Principal source of technical advice and community specific issues in regards to the new construction and extensions of homes.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian (or equivalent)



institution, or relevant experience in a field of technical work

closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
2. A proven track record of delivering project outcomes to scope, within budget and on time.
3. Experience and knowledge of the building industry including design and construction, contract management.
4. Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral, including negotiation and conflict resolution experience.
5. Ability to positively engage with stakeholders in a culturally sensitive manner fostering an open, diverse and inclusive

workplace whilst meeting contractual, legislative and program requirements.
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks to achieve multiple outcomes

simultaneously, exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and promote the objectives of the program.
7. Demonstrated ability to respond positively to change with a commitment to ongoing improvement and professional

development.
8. Ability and willingness to work in remote communities (and remote centres/towns) for short periods. Travel to remote locations

via four wheel drive vehicles, light aircraft or other means, together
9. A current NT C-class driver’s licence or equivalent and be physically able to drive four wheel drive vehicles for long distances.

Desirable
1. Qualifications in Project and or Contract Management.
