We are currently seeking an experienced Fitter-Welder with strong TIG welding expertise to join a leading organisation within the rail and transportation industry. Based at the Homebush Rail Equipment Centre, this role will support the maintenance and repair of critical rail equipment and infrastructure, helping ensure safe and reliable transport operations across the network.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on rail equipment and components.
- Carry out fitting, fabrication, assembly, and repair work as required.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work orders accurately.
- Ensure all welding and fitting activities meet quality and safety standards.
- Complete inspections, documentation, and maintenance records.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines.
- Participate in safety briefings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated TIG welding experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong fitting and fabrication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and practices.
- Experience within the rail, manufacturing, heavy industry, or infrastructure sectors will be highly regarded.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Ability to commence work immediately or at short notice.
