As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Maritime Crewing Superintendent . This is a Full time role, with flexibility to be based at one of the various Birdon sites across Australia .

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vessel Operations Manager, the Maritime Crewing Superintendent is responsible for the effective management of vessel crew resources across assigned fleet in various key programs.

Key Accountabilities :

Some of the key accountabilities for this role include:

Crew Planning, Rostering and deployment

- Ensure vessels are adequately staffed with qualified personnel in accordance with Safe Manning Requirements.
- Engage the Maritime Coordinator to administer crew changes, mobilisations, demobilisations, and travel arrangements.
- Manage emergency crew replacements and short-notice operational requirements.

Recruitment and Selection

- Work with the People and Culture Team and the Operations Manager, to source, recruit, and onboard seafarers for vessel operations.
- Verify qualifications, certifications, licences, medical fitness, right-to-work documentation and security clearance status.

Crew Training and competencies

- Work with the Training co-ordinator to effectively manage crew training and competency requirements

Operational Support

- Provide crewing support during audits, inspections, and client reviews.




- Manage vessel mobilisation and project staffing requirements.
- Participate in incident investigations involving crew-related matters.

Financial Management

- Respond to payroll enquiries and advise on applicable allowances and expense claims as applicable.
- Demonstrate cost effective and sustainable financial practices

Crew Welfare and Performance

- Promote crew wellbeing, engagement, and retention initiatives.
- Coordinate performance evaluations and competency reviews.
- Assist in developing career progression and succession planning programs.

Customer / Client engagement

- Engagement with customer / client as required to provide information on crew compliance, or other general questions related to crew management.

General public engagements / Social media engagement

- Engagement with the general public on service programs to respond to feedback or enquiries on the service (including on social media).
- Occasional visitation to site to meet crew and operations staff.

Ticketing systems

Work with project teams to ensure effective administration/operation of relevant ticketing systems.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Essential.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to make decisions

Desirable.

- Previous maritime operations experience
Previous logistics experience
