Our client is an established accounting and business advisory practice located in Parramatta. The firm provides taxation, financial reporting, compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of individuals and businesses.

About the role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Accountant to join the firm on a full-time basis. The position will manage a portfolio of clients and deliver accurate, timely and commercially focused accounting, taxation and compliance services.
The successful applicant will work closely with senior management, maintain strong client relationships and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
Key responsibilities
Prepare annual financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and individuals.
Prepare and review Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other statutory lodgements.
Manage taxation, GST, FBT, PAYG and related compliance obligations.
Prepare management accounts, cash-flow reports, budgets and financial forecasts.
Complete general ledger reviews, balance-sheet reconciliations and year-end adjustments.
Research taxation and accounting matters and provide practical advice to clients.
Assist clients with tax planning and business advisory matters.
Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office, ASIC and other regulatory authorities.
Manage client deadlines and ensure lodgement obligations are met.
Maintain accurate client files, working papers and supporting documentation.
Identify accounting, taxation and financial risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and external stakeholders.
Review work completed by junior accountants and provide coaching and technical support.
Contribute to improvements in internal systems, procedures and service delivery.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should have:
A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in accounting, commerce, finance or a closely related discipline.
CA or CPA qualification, or substantial progress toward completing the qualification.
At least five years of relevant accounting experience, including a minimum of two years in a senior accounting capacity.
Demonstrated experience working within an Australian public practice accounting environment.
Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for different business structures.
Experience managing client relationships and competing lodgement deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or equivalent.
Experience reviewing the work of junior accountants or supporting their professional development.
Appropriate Australian working rights.
