Your Role:
As a Primary / Secondary Electrical Technician, you’ll play a critical role in the testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault-finding of high-voltage electrical infrastructure across a diverse range of renewable energy, utility and industrial projects.
Working alongside experienced engineers and commissioning teams, you’ll undertake testing and commissioning of primary and secondary systems including protection relays, transformers, switchgear, HV cables and substation control systems.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys solving technical problems, working on industry-leading projects and travelling to sites across Australia’s East Coast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test,
commission and maintain primary and secondary HV electrical equipment.
- Perform protection relay testing, commissioning and fault finding.
- Undertake primary injection, secondary injection and functional testing.

Control & Protection Systems
- Complete commissioning reports and technical documentation.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and protection philosophies.
- Identify defects and recommend technical solutions.
- Work safely in accordance with company and client procedures.
- Travel to project sites across Australia as required.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and clients to deliver successful project outcomes.
Skills & Experience
- Electrical Trade Qualification or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in HV commissioning, testing or maintenance.
- Experience working with primary and/or secondary electrical systems.
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Current CPR & LVR.
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings and protection schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Experience using Omicron or Doble testing equipment.
- Queensland Electrical Licence.
- HV Switching Authorisation.
- Experience working on substations, renewable energy or transmission projects.
- Power system commissioning experience.
- Desirable – Experience with protection relays including SEL, ABB, Siemens, Schneider or GE.
- Desirable – Experience with SCADA and substation automation systems.
