About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our client’s team on a permanent full-time basis.

You will provide direct support to NDIS participants in their homes and within the community. The role involves assisting participants with daily activities while promoting independence, choice, dignity and meaningful community involvement.

The position may involve a rotating roster, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, public holidays and sleepover shifts.

Key responsibilities

- Provide person-centred support in accordance with participants’ NDIS plans, support plans and individual preferences.
- Assist participants with personal care, hygiene, dressing, grooming and mobility.
- Support participants with daily living activities, meal preparation and household tasks.
- Assist with community access, appointments, shopping, recreation and social activities.
- Encourage participants to develop life skills and achieve their personal goals.
- Support participant choice, independence and decision-making.
- Provide medication assistance where authorised, appropriately trained and permitted by organisational procedures.
- Use mobility aids, hoists and other manual-handling equipment safely.
- Implement positive behaviour-support strategies where applicable.
- Monitor participants’ health, wellbeing and behaviour and report relevant changes.
- Complete progress notes, incident reports and other records accurately and promptly.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies and safeguarding concerns.
- Maintain skilled boundaries and protect participant privacy and confidentiality.
- Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards and organisational policies.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must hold:





- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or
- A recognised equivalent or superseded qualification, such as Certificate III in Disability or Certificate III in Individual Support with a disability specialisation.

Applicants must also hold:

- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid.
- Current HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- The NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate: “Quality, Safety and You”, or be willing to complete it before commencement.

Qualifications must have been issued by a Registered Training Organisation or otherwise formally recognised in Australia.

Minimum experience

Applicants must have:

- At least 12 months’ paid experience providing direct support to people with disability.
- Experience working in a supported-independent-living, residential, community-access or in-home support environment.
- Experience following individual support plans and maintaining accurate progress notes.
- Experience providing personal care and supporting participants with daily living activities.
- An understanding of person-centred practice, duty of care, dignity of risk, safeguarding and participant choice and control.

Applicants supporting participants with high-intensity or complex needs may be required to demonstrate additional relevant experience and participant-specific competency.

Mandatory checks and requirements

The successful applicant must have or be willing and eligible to obtain:

- A current NSW NDIS Worker Check clearance for a risk-assessed role.
- A current paid NSW Working with Children Check, where the role involves supporting participants under 18.
- A satisfactory National Police Check, if required by the employer.
- A current unrestricted Australian driver licence.
- A reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle, where participant transport is required.
- Appropriate Australian working rights for permanent full-time employment.
- The ability to perform the inherent requirements of the position safely, with reasonable adjustments where required.
- Availability to work the advertised roster.

Desirable qualifications and experience

The following will be highly regarded:

- CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support.
- Diploma of Community Services or another relevant community-services qualification.
- Relevant nursing, allied-health or mental-health qualifications.
- HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication.
- HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely.




- Positive behaviour-support or trauma-informed-care training.
- Mental-health first-aid training.
- Experience supporting people with autism, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury or complex support needs.
- Experience with high-intensity daily personal activities.
- Participant-specific training in areas such as epilepsy, diabetes, dysphagia, enteral feeding, complex bowel care, urinary catheters or subcutaneous injections.
- Experience using hoists and other mobility or transfer equipment.

Only qualifications and competencies relevant to the participants being supported will be required.
