We are currently seeking a Speech Therapist to join our team to support individuals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This role requires a dynamic, compassionate, and culturally competent professional to work with clients of all ages, particularly within Aboriginal communities, to enhance communication and social participation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide speech therapy assessments, interventions, and support to NDIS participants, with a focus on communication, swallowing, and social skills development.
- Develop personalised treatment plans tailored to each participant’s needs and goals, ensuring the inclusion of cultural considerations, particularly in Aboriginal communities.
- Conduct home and community visits, providing therapy in various settings to promote participant independence and well-being.
- Collaborate with families, carers, other healthcare professionals, and service providers to develop and implement holistic care strategies.
- Support clients in improving functional communication skills, social interaction, and daily living activities.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records, including progress reports and NDIS documentation.




- Engage in ongoing professional development, keeping abreast of the latest therapeutic practices and NDIS requirements.
- Advocate for and educate families and participants on their NDIS plan and available supports.
- Foster positive relationships and open communication with clients and their communities.

Essential Criteria:

- Degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent) and current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
- Proven experience providing speech therapy services within the NDIS framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, cultural safety and competency, particularly working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a community-based setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to report clearly and effectively.
- A strong understanding of the NDIS system, including plan implementation and review processes.
- Current Australian driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for community visits.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable Criteria:





- Experience working with children, adults, and/or elderly clients with disabilities.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices for working with Aboriginal communities.
- Additional language skills or an understanding of local Aboriginal languages and dialects (advantageous).
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team or community-based services.

- Registration with AHPRA as a Speech Therapist
- Tertiary qualifications in the relevant field
- A current Working with Children Check
- Police check
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of experience
