Community Access & Social Support Workers – Mornington Peninsula

Two casual positions available | Consistent weekday shifts | Potential for increased hours

JessiCare is seeking two warm, creative and dependable Disability Support Workers to support a young adult living on the Mornington Peninsula.

This is a relationship-focused opportunity suited to support workers who understand that an effective match is about more than filling a shift. The right workers will take the time to build trust, listen carefully and support the participant to explore their interests, strengthen their independence and become more involved in the community.

About the Participant

The participant is a verbal young adult with autism who communicates well. They are thoughtful, creative and initially reserved; however, once trust has been established, they enjoy conversation and develop strong relationships with the people around them.

They live with fluctuating chronic pain and mobility conditions. On most days, they mobilise independently. Support must therefore be flexible, respectful and responsive to how they are feeling on the day.

Their interests include:

- Art, painting and craft
- Writing and reading
- PlayStation and video games
- Movies
- Libraries and art galleries
- The beach and gentle outdoor activities
- Learning creative skills

The Available Roles:

Role 1 – Female Community Access Support Worker: Must speak good, explicit english

Commencement: As soon as the right match is found
Regular shift: Fridays, 1:00 pm–4:00 pm

This position will primarily involve supporting the participant outside their home. Activities may include:

- Scenic drives and beach visits
- Visiting libraries and art galleries
- Attending craft or community groups
- Going to the movies
- Gentle walks and other suitable outdoor activities
- Attending medical and allied health appointments
- Exploring new experiences based on the participant’s interests
- Building confidence and independence within the community

The participant has expressed a preference for a female support worker who is relatable, calm and able to build a genuine connection.

Role 2 – Male In-Home Social and Capacity-Building Support Worker:



Must speak good, clear english

Anticipated commencement: Within approximately one to two months
Regular shift: One afternoon per week on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday

This position will primarily involve social and creative activities within the participant’s home, including:

- Playing PlayStation and video games
- Art, craft and painting activities
- Exploring new creative hobbies
- Reading, writing and shared-interest activities
- Providing companionship and meaningful conversation
- Supporting confidence, decision-making and independence
- Gradually exploring community-based activities as rapport develops

The participant has expressed a preference for a male support worker with similar interests who can provide relaxed, age-appropriate companionship.

Applicants are welcome to indicate which role best suits their experience, availability and personality.

- Confident supporting an autistic person in a respectful and person-centred way
- Understanding of chronic pain, fatigue and fluctuating mobility
- Able to adapt activities according to the participant’s comfort and energy levels
- Respectful of personal choice, autonomy and family relationships
- Comfortable working independently in the participant’s home and community
- Strong communicators who can provide clear and professional shift documentation

Experience supporting autistic adults or people living with chronic pain is highly regarded. However, personality,



consistency and the ability to establish a genuine connection will be equally important.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate
- A current Australian driver’s licence
- Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
- The confidence and willingness to transport a participant
- The legal right to work in Australia
- Availability for the relevant ongoing weekday shift
- The ability to complete progress notes and follow support plans
- Relevant disability qualifications or demonstrated support experience
- Must be of a similar age to the participant and speak excellent and clear english.
