Seeking a technical Estimator - someone who understands how buildings are designed, measured and constructed to join our national estimating team!
04th August, 2026
Building Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (CostX) - Perth, WA
9 Day Fortnight | Hybrid Working | National Technical & Engineering Team
Help shape the future of construction!
At Ausco Modular, we're changing the way buildings are delivered across Australia.
For more than 60 years we've been one of Australia's leading modular construction companies, delivering permanent and temporary building solutions across education, healthcare, government, defence, commercial, industrial, mining, sport, community infrastructure and large-scale residential projects.
Many of our clients initially engage consultants to design buildings using traditional in situ construction methods before choosing Ausco to deliver the project using modular construction. They choose us because of the benefits modular construction provides, including faster project delivery, improved safety, reduced site disruption, greater programme certainty and exceptional value.
As demand for modular construction continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Building Estimator or Quantity Surveyor to join our National Technical Services team.
This is an opportunity to apply your technical estimating skills on some of Australia's most diverse construction projects while helping shape the future of modular construction.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Estimating Manager, you'll prepare accurate budgets, estimates, tenders and predominantly Bills of Materials (BOMs) for modular building projects throughout Australia.
Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction and Sales teams, you'll ensure every estimate is technically accurate, commercially competitive and capable of being efficiently manufactured and delivered.
Where client procurement requires it, you'll also contribute to the preparation and review of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), making a strong understanding of construction measurement principles highly valuable.
This is a technical estimating role that requires someone who understands how buildings are designed,
measured and constructed, and who enjoys solving construction challenges rather than simply preparing quantities.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prepare accurate project budgets, estimates and tenders.
- Develop and maintain project-specific Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and construction.
- Prepare or review Bills of Quantities (BOQs) where required by client procurement processes.
- Interpret architectural, structural, civil, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical documentation.
- Develop scopes of work, qualifications and clarifications for tender submissions.
- Coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Clearly define factory and site construction scope.
- Ensure estimates comply with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards and Ausco's national estimating standards.
- Work collaboratively with Design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction and Sales teams throughout the estimating process.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating systems, workflows, cost data and national processes.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
About You:
We're looking for someone with a robust technical estimating foundation who enjoys understanding how buildings are put together and can work independently within a collaborative national team.
Ideally you'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience using CostX for measurement and estimating.
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and a sound understanding of construction measurement principles.
- Experience preparing detailed building estimates across multiple trades.
- The ability to interpret architectural, structural and engineering documentation.
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction practices, the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Experience That Would Be Highly Regarded
While not essential, experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:
- Modular or prefabricated construction.
- Building manufacturing environments.
- BIM and digital construction workflows.
- Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
- Civil and external works.
- Working for both contractors and consulting organisations.
Why Join Ausco?
This is more than a traditional estimating role. You'll become part of a national technical team that is continually improving the way estimating is delivered across the business.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors throughout Australia.
- Collaborate with specialists across Design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction and Sales.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of national estimating systems, processes and standards.
- Help shape innovative modular construction solutions that compete directly with traditional construction methods.
- Build a long-term career with one of Australia's leading modular construction companies.
Ausco Benefits
- 9 Day Fortnight.
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
- Paid gym membership through our Health & Wellness Program.
- Employee Assistance Program supporting you and your family.
- 12 weeks paid parental leave or 4 weeks paid partner leave.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Corporate discounts on health insurance and eyewear.
- Ongoing learning, development and career progression.
