Are you an experienced CNC Machinist who enjoys varied, technical work rather than repetitive production machining?
Our client is a well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing business specialising in the design and manufacture of custom machinery, automation systems and specialised industrial equipment. Due to continued growth, they are seeking skilled CNC Turning and Milling Machinists to join their highly capable workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of one-off and small-batch precision components, with plenty of variety and the chance to take ownership of each job from setup through to completion.
The Role as a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up and operating CNC lathes and machining centres
- Performing ISO programming and making program adjustments directly at the machine
- Working with Fanuc and/or Okuma control systems
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances
- Completing first-off inspections and maintaining dimensional accuracy
- Selecting tooling and optimising machining processes
- Managing machine setups from start to finish
- Producing one-off and small-batch components in a jobbing workshop environment
- Maintaining a safe, organised and productive work area
Successful candidates will initially commence on day shift to complete training and onboarding.
Afternoon-shift opportunities may then be available depending on operational requirements.
About You To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience operating CNC turning and/or CNC milling machines
- Strong experience using Fanuc and/or Okuma controls
- The ability to complete ISO programming and program edits at the machine
- Experience working in a jobbing workshop, custom manufacturing or low-volume production workplace
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Pride in producing high-quality precision components
Highly Regarded The following experience will be highly regarded:
- Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Toolmaker or equivalent engineering trade
- Experience manufacturing components for custom machinery or specialised equipment
- Experience across both CNC turning and CNC milling
- Leading Hand, supervisory or workshop leadership experience
