About the role

Training Practical Solutions Consultancy is establishing a health and safety representative (HSR) training program under section 67 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic). We are seeking an experienced trainer to deliver the HSR Initial OHS Training Course (five days, 35 hours) and HSR Refresher OHS Training Courses (one day, seven hours) to elected health and safety representatives and deputy health and safety representatives across Victoria.

This is a face-to-face delivery role in groups of no more than 20 participants. The courses are not competency based and participants are not assessed. You will deliver the approved course materials as issued, without amendment, alteration or omission, and your focus will be on facilitation, discussion and activity-based learning grounded in participants' own workplaces.

Essential requirements

WorkSafe Victoria specifies the following. You must be able to evidence all four.

- A solid, detailed understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), in particular the sections relevant to the purpose of health and safety representatives and their powers, protections and entitlements
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher (TAE40116,



TAE40110 or TAA40104)
- A minimum of two years employed in a role where occupational health and safety was a full-time responsibility or a major part of the role
- Relevant experience delivering training in an adult learning environment

Well regarded

- A qualification in occupational health and safety
- Experience working directly with health and safety representatives or health and safety committees
- Experience adapting delivery for participants with language, literacy or accessibility needs
- Availability to travel to regional Victoria

- Copies of any other relevant qualifications
- A short covering note (one page) on your understanding of the HSR role under the OHS Act

Shortlisted applicants complete a written practical experience questionnaire and attend a structured interview with a panel that includes a person with in-depth knowledge of the OHS Act and the HSR role. We verify qualifications and contact two referees.

Pay: $65.00 – $100.00 per hour
