Business Adviser

- Salary: $100,894 – $114,476 plus superannuation
- Fixed term: Up to 12 months
- Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Business Adviser provides comprehensive business support and strategic advice to the Office of the Chief Communications Officer while delivering effective business management services across the Strategic Communications Branch. Working in a dynamic environment, you will support branch operations through business improvement initiatives, workforce planning, project delivery and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for a proactive and organised qualified who enjoys solving problems, building strong working relationships and delivering high-quality business support and advice.

Main Accountabilities





- Provide business management and administrative support across the branch, including workforce planning, recruitment, human resources, finance processing and asset management.
- Design and implement business improvement projects, establish new systems and processes, and prepare high-quality reports and documentation for decision-makers.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with departmental stakeholders and business partners to support service delivery and ensure information is accessible and shared effectively.
- Contribute to branch issues management by identifying solutions, supporting implementation and providing operational advice on human resources, finance, recruitment, records management and asset management.

The Team

The position of Business Adviser forms a part of the Strategic Communications Branch within the Office of the Secretary.

The Office of the Secretary provides high-level support to the Secretary in leading the department's strategic governance, statutory responsibilities and ministerial commitments. The Strategic Communications Branch enhances the department's reputation through best-practice communications, issues management, corporate affairs, digital and marketing services, and management of the Customer Communications Centre.

About You

You will bring a proactive approach to your work, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and the ability to independently manage priorities and solve problems. You will have strong organisational and business management skills, with experience supporting business operations and coordinating multiple activities in a collaborative environment.



You will also have proven project management capability, including planning, delivering and monitoring business improvement initiatives while managing risks and providing practical advice to support successful outcomes.

A relevant tertiary qualification in business, project management or human resources would be well regarded.
