About the role:
The Senior Solicitor is a critical thinker and problem solver who builds trust and rapport with all colleagues and stakeholders to deliver practical, business-focused solutions and manage complex commercial matters with minimal supervision. The role requires an experienced, innovative and commercially astute lawyer who can deliver authoritative, strategic and practical legal advice. The successful candidate will be highly adaptable, with strong communication skills to convey complex legal and risk issues clearly and persuasively.
The role requires advanced legal drafting skills, and experience in managing a diverse range of commercial and corporate law issues including ICT and IP matters, privacy issues, pre-litigation dispute management, administrative law, and property law issues. The Senior Solicitor must also be able to manage external legal providers and budgets to ensure excellence in legal services.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and corporate law documents.
- Translate complex legal risks into pragmatic options with clear recommendations aligned to organisational objectives and risk appetite.
- End to end management of significant legal transactions – including scoping, strategy and delivery planning, within time-frames agreed with clients and that meet required standards.
- Prepares briefs, correspondence, agreements and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; ensures written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose; uses appropriate style and formats.
- Initiates and maintains relationships with peers and senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Focuses on understanding stakeholder legal and commercial risk issues and preparation of technical legal responses.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
- The successful candidate must hold (or be eligible to hold) a current practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law 2014.
- Minimum of 5 years' post admission experience is preferable.
- Commercial and corporate law experience is required.
- The following requirements would be considered beneficial:
- Property law experience, and ICT arrangements.
