Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to join an Asset Retirement team.
This role reports to the HSE Team Lead and works closely with both offshore and onshore project teams. It is primarily based in Perth, with occasional site travel and requirements to provide field coverage during leave periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE systems and processes to support asset retirement activities.
- Build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including leadership, frontline personnel, and business partners across onshore and offshore environments.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing business priorities.
- Apply practical problem-solving skills alongside solid planning and project management capabilities.
- Deliver clear and effective communication tailored to diverse audiences, including presentations, facilitating meetings, and leading discussions to achieve alignment.
- Provide technical HSE guidance on risks and safeguards associated with offshore and onshore asset retirement, ensuring integration into planning and execution phases.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth HSE legislation and approvals.
- Support and promote Workforce HSE Culture and Human & Organisational Performance principles within asset retirement activities.

- Proven ability to influence without direct authority.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across regulators, leadership teams, contractors, and frontline personnel.
- Technical HSE Expertise
- Broad experience in health & safety, environmental compliance, risk assessment, and contractor assurance.
- Ability to proactively identify and mitigate HSE risks during planning stages.
- Decision-Making & Problem Solving
- Strong ability to identify issues, prioritise actions, and frame key decisions.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to develop solutions and drive alignment.
- Coaching & Mentoring
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and build HSE capability.
- Experience aligning teams and coordinating efforts towards common objectives.
