Position: Carpenter

Salary: $79,000 to $81,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Tarneit VIC 3029 and construction sites across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria

Our client TSKK Construction Pty Ltd is a Victorian building and construction company based in Tarneit, providing carpentry, structural framing, formwork and general construction services to residential and commercial projects across metropolitan Melbourne and surrounding growth corridors. The company undertakes new builds, extensions, renovations and fit-out works, and maintains an ongoing pipeline of contracted projects requiring qualified trades personnel.

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, finishing and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, engineered timber and related materials on residential and commercial construction sites. The position is integral to the delivery of the company's contracted works, ensuring all carpentry tasks are completed to specification, on schedule, and in accordance with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards and occupational health and safety requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·Studying drawings, plans and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures.

·Ordering and selecting timbers and materials and preparing layouts.

·Cutting materials, and assembling and nailing cut and shaped parts, using hand and power tools.

·Erecting structural framework, including wall frames, roof trusses, floor joists and sub-floor structures, and laying flooring.

·Constructing and erecting formwork for concrete structures, including footings, slabs, columns and stairs.

·Nailing fascia panels, sheathing roofs,



and installing window frames, door frames, doors, architraves, skirting and other timber fixtures and fittings.

·Assembling prepared timber to form structures and fittings ready to install, and installing prefabricated components on site.

·Checking the accuracy of work with levels, plumb bobs, squares and measuring instruments, and adjusting as required.

·Cutting timber and other materials to size, and shaping, planing and sanding surfaces and joints for fit and finish.

·Carrying out repairs, maintenance and renovation carpentry on existing structures.

·Working with wall cladding, decking, pergolas and external timber structures.

Requirements:

·Certificate III in Carpentry

·A minimum of 12 months Carpentry experience

·Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial carpentry, including framing, formwork, fixing and finishing work.

·Sound ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.

·Competence in the secure use of hand tools, power tools and carpentry machinery.

·Knowledge of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and safe work practices.

·Construction Induction Card (White Card)

·Strong attention to detail, physical fitness suited to construction work, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·Current driver licence and willingness to travel between work sites.

Working Conditions

The position is site-based and involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, working at heights, manual handling, and the use of power tools and machinery. The Carpenter must comply at all times with the company's workplace health and safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment and follow site-specific safety plans and directions of the site supervisor.
