Our client is a renowned leader in the Recycling Services sector, committed to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management. With a nationwide reach and a strong reputation, they deliver high-quality recycling solutions and are looking for a motivated individual to join their Prestons facility as a Return and Earn All-Rounder Operator / Leading Hand.

Position Brief
Location: Prestons, NSW
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm & Every Second Saturday 7:00am – 3:00pm
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
Pay Rate: $32–$33 per hour + Leading Hand Allowance + Higher Duties Allowance
Start Date: Immediate start available for the successful applicant

About the Role
This hands-on role is key to the daily success of the Prestons Return and Earn sorting facility. As the Leading Hand, you will support site operations, lead a team of up to 7 operators, and ensure exceptional service is delivered to customers dropping off recyclables. You’ll operate equipment, manage inventories, and work closely with the site leadership to maintain operational flow, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support a team of up to 7 sorting operators
- Assist with day-to-day customer payments and interactions
- Operate machinery for sorting and processing recyclables
- Use a counterbalance forklift to load/unload materials
- Oversee inventory control including stocktaking and cycle counts
- Maintain cleanliness and safety within the facility
- Load and unload trucks and containers as required
- Enforce safety and compliance procedures in daily operations

What We’re Looking For

- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or 2IC role in a fast-paced environment
- Background in customer service and stakeholder interaction
- Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements
- A current forklift licence (essential)
- Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills
- Ability to perform manual handling and labouring tasks

- Fit for work and able to pass drug & alcohol screening
- Capable of working independently and reliably
- Possess Australian working rights
- Able to pass a Police Check
- Dependable, punctual, and enthusiastic about sustainability
