The Position

We are recruiting an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established organisation based in Brisbane. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll qualified who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, compliant payroll.

Working closely with the HR team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 500 employees, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while providing support on payroll-related queries and employment conditions. This role is initially offered as a temporary assignment with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities

- Process weekly and monthly end-to-end payroll for approximately 500 employees.
- Partner closely with the HR team to ensure payroll changes, new starters, terminations and employee records are processed accurately.
- Respond to payroll enquiries from employees, managers and HR in a timely and professional manner.
- Interpret and apply Awards and Enterprise Agreements, working collaboratively with HR to ensure compliance.
- Calculate termination payments, leave entitlements and salary packaging reconciliations.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journals, ledger accounts and payroll reporting.
- Ensure ATO, Superannuation and statutory obligations are processed within required timeframes.
- Process annual pay reviews, step increases and end-of-financial-year payroll requirements, including STP.




- Maintain payroll procedures and identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies.

Skills & Experience

- Extensive experience processing end-to-end payroll, ideally for 350-500 employees.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Australian payroll legislation.
- Previous experience using MicrOpay will be highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional accuracy and reconciliation skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across payroll systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across Finance, HR and the wider business.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process efficiencies.
