Full Time - COOK

Location: Yunta, South Australia

Salary: $82,000 – $85,000 per annum (depending on experience)

YUNTA Truckstop is looking for a skilled and hardworking Cook to join our busy kitchen team. This job suits someone who works well under pressure and enjoys putting out good food for truck drivers, travelers and locals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cook, prepare and plate a range of meals following set recipes and customer requests
2. Check ingredients and deliveries for freshness, quality and food safety compliance
3. Use and monitor commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers and other appliances
4. Season and cook meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables and other items on the menu
5. Make sure every plate is portioned correctly and looks good before it goes out
6. Prepare sauces, gravies, curries, burgers, sandwiches and other hot items
7. Store food correctly in temperature-controlled units and follow stock rotation
8. Keep the kitchen clean and hygienic in line with food safety rules
9. Keep an eye on stock levels, help with ordering and cut down on food waste
10.



Cook meals that meet special dietary needs and customer preferences
11. Help with menu planning and working out how much food to prepare
12. Train and oversee kitchen hands and other staff when needed
13. Keep quality and consistency up during peak service times

Experience & Qualifications:

1. Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) and/or at least one year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook.
2. Solid understanding of food prep, cooking methods and food safety practices
3. Able to work on your own and as part of a team
4. Good time management and organisation
5. Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays when required
