About the Position
As the Design Manager Electrical, you will lead the coordination and review of electrical designs for major Data Centre projects. Working closely with clients, consultants, and project teams, you will ensure HV and LV electrical solutions are compliant, buildable, and aligned with project objectives while supporting the successful delivery of complex, mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the electrical design process for Data Centre projects from concept through to construction.
- Review, validate, and verify electrical designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and client requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across HV and LV electrical infrastructure design.
- Coordinate with consulting engineers, design consultants, and specialist vendors.
- Act as the key interface between the design team, electrical contracting team, general contractor,
and client representatives.
- Identify design risks, clashes, and constructability issues and develop practical solutions.
- Lead design workshops, technical meetings, and stakeholder reviews.
- Ensure designs are cost-effective, buildable, and aligned with project delivery objectives.
- Support procurement activities through technical reviews and equipment selection.
- Assist project teams with design clarifications, technical queries, and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain compliance with relevant Australian Standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
Experience Required
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the electrical industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- High Voltage (HV) systems
- Low Voltage (LV) systems
- Power distribution systems
- Switchboards and switchgear
- Generators
- UPS systems
- Critical electrical infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating, reviewing, or verifying electrical designs.
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Revit 360
- PowerCAD
- AutoCAD
- Previous experience working on Data Centre, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of design coordination and construction methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to confidently engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and project delivery teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
