Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital

Join our dedicated team on our St Michael’s Ward as an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse, where you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families every day.

In this rewarding role, you will deliver exceptional, family-centred care throughout every stage of the patient journey, from admission through to recovery. Working alongside our highly skilled and supportive team of paediatric surgeons and multidisciplinary clinicians, you'll play a vital role in achieving outstanding patient outcomes.

As a trusted clinical resource, you will bring your expertise to the bedside, support and mentor colleagues, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture. You'll also effectively manage clinical resources, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care across all areas of Paediatrics.

The position will be offered on a permanent part-time basis working 20 hours per week.

The Position

- Supervise nursing practice and take responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.

- Act as a clinical resource, maintain and develop clinical skills relevant to area of practice.

- Initiate review and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems.

- Serve as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.

- Evaluate the quality of nursing practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

- Ensure the correct use and care of all hospital equipment by self and colleagues.

- Actively contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.

- Ensure documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements.

- Deputise for the Nurse Manager as required.





- Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively.

- Participate in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.

- Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programs with Nurse Manager, act as a preceptor as required.

- Organise own work and assist colleagues to complete all care duties by end of shift.

- Supervise the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.

- Assist the Nurse Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department.

- Review products and equipment and provide documentation and education on evaluation.

You will have demonstrated strong leadership ability, working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving. You will liaise with Surgeons, Reps and have strong organizational skills to order loan equipment required for surgeries in a timely manner.

To succeed you will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and relevant post graduate qualifications.

A post graduate certificate in Paediatric Nursing will be highly regarded. Minimum 3 years' experience in a paediatric hospital setting is preferred.

- Salary: $109,599 to $115,681 pro rata, plus 12% superannuation
