Are you passionate about improving the quality and safety of healthcare services? Join the Southwest Local Health Service Network as the Safer Together Program Quality Improvement Support Officer and play a key role in supporting the implementation of Safer Care Victoria’s first statewide safety improvement initiative.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated quality improvement qualified who enjoys working collaboratively with health services and clinical teams to drive meaningful change. In this role, you will provide coaching, advice and coordination support to health services across the region, helping teams implement quality improvement initiatives that contribute to safer and more sustainable healthcare outcomes for all Victorians.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of the Safer Together Program, you'll support health services and clinical teams across the Southwest region to implement quality improvement initiatives that enhance the safety and quality of healthcare delivery.

Project Coordination & Delivery —
Coordinate and manage improvement projects and programs in collaboration with participating health services, ensuring activities are planned, implemented and monitored to achieve program objectives and improved patient outcomes.

Quality Improvement Support & Coaching —
Provide practical quality improvement advice, guidance and one-on-one coaching to health services participating in Safer Together Program priority projects, building local capability and supporting sustainable change.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration —
Work closely with clinicians, health service leaders, consumers and external partners to identify opportunities for improvement, develop solutions and support the implementation of best-practice clinical pathways and service improvements.

Leadership & Change Management —
Partner with the Safer Together Program Coordinator to support health service staff and teams in driving, embedding and sustaining quality improvement initiatives across the region.

Training & Capability Building —
Promote, deliver and coordinate quality improvement training and education activities, supporting workforce development and enhancing improvement knowledge and skills across the network.

Reporting & Governance —
Prepare reports, project updates and other documentation for governance groups and key stakeholders, ensuring accurate reporting of program progress, outcomes, risks and achievements.

Quality Improvement & Risk Management —
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based improvement activities, while proactively monitoring, managing and escalating project risks and issues as required.





Communication & Relationship Management —
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating robust communication, collaboration and engagement to support successful project delivery.

Continuous Improvement & Professional Development —
Actively seek feedback, contribute to organisational quality and safety initiatives, participate in professional development activities and support a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Professional Responsibilities —
Comply with relevant organisational policies, procedures and mandatory training requirements, participate in committees and qualified groups, and undertake other duties within the scope of the role to support service and program objectives.

What You Bring

- Tertiary qualification in a healthcare discipline or a related field.
- Experience in continuous quality improvement and change management, driving service improvements and sustainable outcomes.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, health services and external partners to achieve shared objectives.
- Well-developed project management skills, including the ability to coordinate initiatives, evaluate outcomes and deliver results within deadlines.
- Proven ability to provide guidance, coaching and support to individuals and teams implementing quality improvement activities.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage workload effectively.
- Flexible, adaptable and resilient, with the capacity to work across diverse environments and respond to changing priorities.
- Knowledge and experience within the healthcare sector, including service improvement, quality initiatives and staff training programs.
