An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced product and innovation leader to join an FMCG manufacturing business based in Queensland. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, drive innovation, and shape the future direction. You will lead innovation, product development and packaging development activities across manufacturing sites while driving the organisation's future growth agenda.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible leadership position that combines innovation, commercial strategy and technical leadership. Leading a high-performing team, you will be responsible for identifying emerging market opportunities, developing future-focused innovation pipelines and delivering commercially successful products and solutions that support long-term business growth.
You will play a critical role in evaluating market trends, consumer behaviour and emerging technologies, translating insights into opportunities that create value for both customers and the business. Working closely with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance, you will ensure innovation initiatives align with broader commercial objectives and strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing the innovation and product strategy
- Identifying and evaluating emerging market opportunities, trends and technologies
- Leading recent product and packaging development initiatives from concept through to commercialisation
- Driving innovation projects that support growth, customer requirements and business objectives
- Building robust business cases to support strategic investment and future capability development
- Leading value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives across products, packaging and processes
- Partnering with senior leadership to evaluate future growth opportunities and investment priorities
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing technical team
- Managing complex projects and cross-functional stakeholder relationships
- Presenting recommendations and strategic initiatives to executive leadership teams
About You
We are seeking a commercially minded innovation leader with a proven track record within FMCG manufacturing.
- Extensive experience leading product development, innovation or R&D; functions within FMCG environments
- A strong track record of delivering commercially successful innovation outcomes
- Experience identifying market opportunities and translating them into business growth
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to evaluate opportunities from both customer and operational perspectives
- Experience developing business cases and supporting strategic investment decisions
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing technical teams
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- A proactive, curious and forward-thinking mindset
