Concentis has partnered exclusively with Promech to secure a Design Manager to join their growing Brisbane-based team and lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of multidisciplinary engineering projects.

As the Design Manager, you will provide technical and operational leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing the successful delivery of projects while mentoring engineers, managing client relationships, and driving quality outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader looking to play a key role in shaping project delivery and supporting the continued growth of a respected engineering consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering projects from concept, feasibility and detailed design through to construction support, commissioning and operations.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resource plans and engineering deliverables to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
- Work closely with clients, senior management, subcontractors and internal engineering teams to manage project scope, quality, commercial performance and technical outcomes.
- Prepare and review technical documentation including project briefs, scopes of work, specifications and engineering deliverables.
- Lead project planning, engineering assurance activities including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, constructability reviews and risk assessments.
- Prepare and review tender and RFQ documentation,



evaluate suppliers and subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance throughout project execution.
- Support business development by preparing project proposals, identifying new opportunities and building long-term client relationships.
- Mentor, coach and develop engineers while fostering collaboration, continuous improvement and high engineering standards across the team.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with company quality systems, industry regulations and relevant Australian standards.

About You

- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ) is essential.
- Minimum 15 years' engineering experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary engineering design teams.
- At least 5 years' experience managing the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working within an engineering consultancy environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Water & Wastewater.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project delivery methodologies and relevant Australian codes and standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, lead technical teams and deliver commercially successful projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership and mentoring skills with a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
