Assistant Club Manager in Melbourne, Australia

AUD $70,000 base + circa AUD $1,000 per month commission + superannuation on top.

Our client is a multi site gym group operating inside one of the world's largest 24/7 fitness franchises, with six clubs across two of Melbourne's fastest growing suburbs and sixteen more planned over the next two to three years. They're looking for an Assistant Club Manager to sit at the heart of member engagement and the day to day running of a club, working closely with the Club Manager.

This is the step before running your own club, and with new clubs opening every year, that step comes quickly for the right person. The performance standard is the same as the Club Manager's, so you'll be trusted with real responsibility from the start, and the group has a track record of promoting from within as it grows. Candidates from outside the fitness industry, hospitality especially, are genuinely welcome at this level if you're passionate about fitness, people oriented and confident.

On offer is a base salary of AUD $70,000 with steady monthly commission, a community first club culture rather than an ego or heavy weights gym, and a transparent development path towards a Club Manager role.

Working pattern: Permanent and full time, on site. The day is built around a 10:15 team call to debrief appointments and track the day, with floor presence for the rest of it. [Confirm contracted hours and any weekend expectation.]

Key responsibilities:

- Support the Club Manager: Be the reliable right hand across the day, covering members, team and operations.

- Convert the leads: Call and service potential, new and current members, with speed of follow up being the job.

- Service the members: Make people feel welcome from the moment they walk in and look after their journey from there.

- Generate PT leads:



Build rapport on the floor and pass warm leads through to the Personal Trainers.

- Keep the club running: Clean, safe, operating well day to day, and fun for the team and the members.

- Learn the top job: Absorb the Club Manager role so you're ready when the next club opens.

About you:

- Eligible to relocate: A UK passport holder aged 18 to 35 and eligible for the Australian Working Holiday visa, which needs no employer sponsorship.

- Sales and people focused: Experience hitting membership or sales targets, or transferable experience from a customer facing sector such as hospitality.

- Organised: You plan your days properly and balance a fun floor with professional standards.

- People first: You care about members and their journey, not just the number on the board.

- Open to feedback: You take direct, upfront feedback as information rather than as a personal knock.

- Ready to reset: Happy to learn a new process and park how the last club did things.

- Ambitious: Keen to step up and run your own club as the group expands.
