Ten Recruitment a pleased to represent a leading construction contractor as a full time Commercial/Residential Estimator based in Western Australia, with opportunities to work from either a metropolitan or regional office.
In this strategic role, you will be responsible for providing reliable cost estimates for projects up to $10M. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial part in supporting the company’s competitive position within the construction industry.
What you'll be doing
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a range of commercial construction projects
- Coordinate estimate preparation, calculate and prepare quantities, and compile tender submissions
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Analyse and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify materials, labour, and equipment requirements
- Research and evaluate supplier pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to refine estimates and identify cost savings
- Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data to inform future estimates
- Provide guidance and support throughout tender and bidding processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes
- Work independently and manage multiple projects confidently
- Undertake tendering and bid preparation, including scope review, risk assessment, and complexity analysis
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Commercial Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong technical ability in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and digital tools (experience with Procore and CostX desirable)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost efficiency
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Exposure to a variety of project types including commercial, industrial, and design & construct projects
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or related field
