About the Role

Victorian TAFEs play a critical role in delivering vocational education and training and higher education that supports industry, communities, and economic growth across the state. We are seeking a highly respected leader with significant experience in the tourism, events, food or hospitality sectors to join the Board of William Angliss Institute.

As a Board Director, you will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and governance to ensure Angliss continues to deliver high-quality education, respond to emerging workforce needs, and strengthen industry engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the tourism, events, food and hospitality workforce through educating the people that will support one of the state's most important and dynamic industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As a Board Director, you will:

- Contribute to the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of Angliss.
- Ensure effective governance, risk management, and accountability.
- Provide insights into current and emerging workforce trends within tourism, events, food, and hospitality.
- Strengthen industry partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
- Support innovation in vocational education and training delivery, higher education and research.
- Promote opportunities that improve student outcomes, industry responsiveness, and workforce participation.
- Act in the best interests of the organisation and the Victorian community.

About You





We are seeking candidates with:

Essential Experience

- Senior leadership, executive, business ownership, or board experience within one or more of the following sectors:
- Tourism
- Events
- Hospitality
- Foods
- Culinary Arts
- Visitor Economy
- Accommodation and Hotel Operations

Desired Skills and Attributes

- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary workforce, skills, and training challenges.
- Strategic thinking and sound business judgement.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and partnership-building capabilities.
- Knowledge of governance principles and director responsibilities.
- Ability to contribute to robust board discussions and decision-making.
- Commitment to public value, integrity, and ethical leadership.
- Understanding of regional and metropolitan industry workforce needs.

Highly Regarded

- Previous board or committee experience.
- Experience working with educational institutions, apprenticeships, traineeships, or workforce development initiatives.
- Financial, risk, audit, digital transformation, or governance expertise.
