Governance & Risk Officer

- Level 5 of the SAMSOA Award and associated Northern Areas Council (ASU) Enterprise Agreement

Northern Areas Council are looking for a switched on, experienced Governance & Risk Officer. Working directly with the CEO, Councillors and Senior Management to monitor, maintain and improve Council's governance and risk processes and systems. Ensuring statutory requirements are met and help foster a risk aware culture.

To be successful you will need:

- Experience in interpreting legislation.

- Knowledge of governance and decision making frameworks.

- Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act and other relevant legislation.

- Knowledge of the requirements of agenda and minutes preperation.

- The ability to work collaboratively with Managers, Councillors and stakeholders.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.





- The ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently across multiple tasks.

- Flexibility to work across the council area while based in Jamestown.

- A National Police Clearance.

- Undertake a pre-employment medical.

- Willingness to attend out of hours Council meetings.
