GRADUATE – RELIABILTY ENGINEER

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to support the improvement of mobile fleet performance through data analysis, maintenance strategy support, basic root cause investigations and condition monitoring activities. The position provides structured development, combining office-based analytics with hands‑on exposure to workshop and field environments. Working closely with senior engineers, maintainers, OEM representatives and data specialists, the role assists in integrating machine telemetry, identifying defects, analysing trends and contributing to safe, effective maintenance practices. It is ideal for early‑career engineers seeking strong technical grounding in reliability and mobile equipment performance.

Reporting to the Reliability Engineer, your duties will include:

- Contributing to secure work practices and participate in site safety activities.

- Assist in developing and improving preventative maintenance strategies across CAT, Komatsu, Sandvik, Volvo, Normet, Toyota and Isuzu fleets.

- Spend structured time in workshop and field environments to learn equipment systems first-hand.

- Build understanding of heavy mobile equipment systems such as powertrain, hydraulics, braking, structures, lubrication and engine systems.





- Assist with condition monitoring tasks including oil sampling, vibration, thermography and equipment inspections.

- Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends, early warning signs and recurring issues.

- Support root cause analysis (RCA) activities by gathering data, interviewing operators/maintainers and contributing to simple 5 Whys and Cause‑and‑Effect discussions.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics/Interdisciplinary or equivalent).

- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of themselves and their peers.

- Exposure to reliability concepts

- Knowledge of mobile equipment systems and their functions (haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers, drills, LVs and support equipment).

This is a 2 year fixed term position working a Monday – Friday roster.
