This is a hands-on role where you'll work alongside a dedicated team to maintain and enhance the City's landscapes, ensuring they remain safe, attractive, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.

About the role

Reporting to the Leading Hand, you will contribute to the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the City's parks, gardens, reserves, and streetscapes. From turf management and garden care to planting and landscape improvements, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality public spaces that support community pride and wellbeing.

A snapshot of your new role:

- Maintain gardens, parks, and other outdoor spaces within the local community.

- Carry out winter planting of trees and plants with a team of professional parks staff.

- Monitor and control pests and diseases to ensure the health and vitality of plants.

- Manage turf including mowing, edging and fertilising

- Perform regular watering, weeding, pruning, and mulching to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of garden areas.

- Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute seasonal planting and floral displays.

- Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools, ensuring their safe and efficient use.

- Assist in the removal of fallen leaves, debris, and other waste from garden areas.

- Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times.

What you will bring to the role:

- Experience in gardening, landscaping, turf management, or horticulture.

- Ideally,



you will hold a Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Turf Management, or a related qualification, or have attained a recognised trade qualification through an alternative pathway.

- Applications from candidates working towards a relevant qualification or with equivalent practical experience are encouraged.

- A minimum “C” Class driver’s licence

- Knowledge of plant species and maintenance techniques.

- Proficiency in operating gardening equipment and tools.

- Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.

- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices related to gardening.

- A valid White Card

- Current National Police Clearance or willing to obtain
