About New Porgera

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

About the role

Current Porgera Limited is seeking an experienced Underground Development Supervisor responsible for the leadership and performance of your crew, their quality of work and successful, safe delivery to production schedule. We operate a significant fleet of drills, trucks and loaders including CUBEX V30 and Normet Charmecs as we ramp-up to full production.

The role includes a significant training and development element, knowledge sharing your knowledge and experience with your local crew, upskilling and future proofing your team in line with global best practices as we ramp-up production to 1.8Mtpa Ore across a mix of mining both narrow vein and bulk stoping, with both Rockfill and Paste backfill methods.

You will model safety behaviors whilst monitoring your crew’s performance again shift’s targets and progress alongside running prestart and handovers at the end of shift, ensuring all paperwork and reporting is compliant in alignment with operational requirements, legislation, statutory regulations and QA/QC standards.

You will coach and develop your team, maintaining the highest safety and housekeeping standards is imperative, working with your team to assess and manage risk, overseeing safe working including observation and reporting of all safety,



health, and environmental incidents, near misses or hazards including property damage and monitoring geotechnical issues accordingly.

NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, with strong ability in delivery to support the mines successful operation whilst coordinating the efforts of your team members to complete projects according to plan in a timely and safe manner.

About you

Given the dynamic environment, you must demonstrate agility and an ability to work effectively under pressure, understand and meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

To succeed in this role, you will have solid previous experience leading development mining crews of up to 30, managing 6+ development drills and charge crews ideally in developing nations. You must have experience in hard rock, decline mining and mining through paste fill alongside effectively managing service crews. High speed development exposure is highly desirable.





You will demonstrate a ‘One Team’ approach, providing effective leadership and development for your local team to reinforce NPL’s culture and values, always promoting a safe work environment.

The position requires a high energy individual, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.

You will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety through proactive interactions, utilizing hazard identification tools, leading reporting, and active participation in safety incident investigations. Prioritizing the well-being of our team and the environment is paramount.
