ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in Hobart, this is a hands-on community sport role for someone who enjoys bringing people together and turning good ideas into real opportunities. The Sports Coordinator will plan and deliver welcoming sport, recreation and arts activities across Southern Tasmania for people experiencing disadvantage, isolation and other barriers to participation.

No two weeks will look quite the same. The role may move from an all-abilities activity or community-agency program to a partnership meeting, a Reclink Community Series school sport day or the Hobart Community Cup. At its heart, the position creates connection, confidence and better health through activity, while helping Tasmania’s most vulnerable communities access opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role you will need:

- qualification from a recognised TAFE / University including certificate level 3 Diploma or Degree in Sport and Recreation, Community Development or similar and/or

minimum of two years’ experience in delivering services / programs in Sport and Recreation, Community Development, Health and Wellbeing or Youth.

- understanding of and experience in administrative support systems.

- high level of verbal and written communication skills.

- proven ability to communicate effectively with and deliver successful programs to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women and girls.

- demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government and partner agencies, community organisations and service providers.





- demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and constructively in a team setting with minimal supervision.

- proven ability to take the initiative, work independently, honestly and respectfully with diverse individuals and groups.

- positive level of IT knowledge (including Microsoft Office, online conferencing, social media and promotion).

- demonstrated ability to be highly organised with the capacity to work effectively within tight time constraints.

You will stand out if you have:

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by diverse communities.

- Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships within community networks.

- Experience in delivering Sport and Recreation sessions as a coach, teacher, or instructor.

This is maximum term appointment commencing late August 2026 working 30 hrs per week as a part-time employee with an end date 30th June 2027. A competitive remuneration will be paid at SCHaDS Level 3.1 plus superannuation with the option to increase your income through salary packaging.
