South Australian Native Title Services (SANTS) has worked alongside Traditional Owners since 2008 to progress native title outcomes and support self-determination. We provide native title and community development services that help create lasting social, cultural, environmental and economic opportunities for Aboriginal communities across South Australia.
The Role
We're looking for a passionate and creative Communications Officer to join our team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll play a key role in shaping how SANTS communicates with Traditional Owners, stakeholders, partners, government and the wider community.
The role will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll create compelling stories, manage digital channels, produce publications and multimedia content, and help ensure the voices, priorities and aspirations of South Australia's Traditional Owners are shared respectfully and authentically.
What you'll do
- Develop engaging content across our website, social media, e-newsletters and publications.
- Coordinate production of the Aboriginal Way magazine, podcast and radio program.
- Prepare media materials, briefing notes, speeches, key messages and stakeholder communications.
- Support the CEO and organisation with strategic communications and media activities.
- Build positive relationships with journalists, stakeholders, Traditional Owners and Prescribed Body Corporates (PBCs).
- Produce digital, print and multimedia content, including photography, audio and publications.
- Contribute to communications planning, campaigns and organisational projects.
- Support internal communications and help maintain SANTS' communications platforms.
About you
You will be an experienced communications professional who enjoys telling meaningful stories and building trusted relationships.
You will need:
- Qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- At least three years' experience in communications, media, public relations or stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
- Experience managing websites, social media and e-newsletters.
- Experience using Canva, Mailchimp and Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop or Audition).
- Solid stakeholder relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
- Photography, audio editing or multimedia production experience (desirable).
- Experience creating and managing digital, print and multimedia content.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently when required.
- A current South Australian driver's licence.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and coordinate multiple projects.
- Experience using communications and design tools such as Canva, Mailchimp and Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Audition).
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
