The Position

Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) seeks to appoint an accomplished nursing leader as Director of Nursing Workforce and Informatics. Reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing and Patient Experience, this pivotal executive leadership role will shape workforce strategy, nursing workforce planning and contemporary informatics capability across one of Australia’s largest and most complex public health services.

Working closely with the Executive Director of Nursing, CALHN Executive, Program Directors and Nursing Leadership Team, the Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for workforce planning, workforce reform, nursing information systems and emerging workforce priorities. The role leads the development and implementation of frameworks, systems and initiatives that support contemporary nursing and midwifery practice, workforce sustainability, service quality and patient-centred care.

This is a highly influential position with responsibility for progressing major workforce initiatives, supporting implementation of workforce reforms, advancing the use of workforce data and digital solutions, and ensuring CALHN’s nursing workforce is well positioned to meet future service demands. The successful candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience in nursing workforce management, workforce planning,



organisational change and stakeholder engagement, together with the ability to influence at executive and system levels. They will be recognised as a collaborative and strategic leader, capable of navigating complexity, building solid relationships and translating workforce insights into practical outcomes that strengthen organisational performance and patient care.

Central Adelaide Local Health Network is South Australia’s largest local health network and one of the nation’s most significant public healthcare providers. CALHN is responsible for the Royal Adelaide Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, St Margaret’s Rehabilitation Hospital, extensive community and mental health services, and statewide services including SA Dental, SA Prison Health, DonateLife SA and oversight responsibilities for Statewide Clinical Support Services.
