Fixed Term appointment may be considered to suit an individual’s personal circumstances, with the possibility of extension(s) and permanency. What is our Senior Clinical Psychologist role?

Come and join our dedicated and agile team in Older Adult Mental Health. As the sole Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide consultation and clinical expertise to a complex caseload of older adult mental health patients. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team including a Neuropsychologist, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses and more. You will provide 1:1 psychology input to patients both in the community and in hospital, as well as work alongside Occupational Therapists to develop and facilitate therapy groups. Working with the Older Adult demographic, you will also work with the team to develop behaviour management plans for patients with cognitive impairment and/or behavioural challenges.

The NMHS Mental Health Older Adult Mental Health Program is responsible for the delivery of specialist mental health services to older people living in the North Metropolitan region of Perth, including inpatient, Hospital in the Home and community services.

Underpinning the Model of Care is the practice of person-centred care and a focus on recovery in partnership with patients, consumers and their family and carers. More information is available at North Metropolitan Health Service - Older Adult Mental Health Services.

In this role, you will provide consultation and supervision on complex mental health/psychological disorders. You will be solely responsible for the continued development of the Clinical Psychology service, including continuous improvement projects, policies and processes.

As a senior clinician you will possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the demographic of older adult patients as well as proficiency in therapeutic interventions relevant to the cohort. You will take responsibility for your own learning in this specialty area and share your expertise with the team.

You will practice as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and ensure practice is in accordance with laws and ethical standards governing psychological practice as per the psychology Board of Australia and North Metropolitan Health Service policies and guidelines,
