About The Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Ventilation, the Ventilation Engineer is responsible for delivering strategic and technical ventilation solutions that support the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the mine.
In this role, you will contribute to one of the largest and most complex underground ventilation systems in the world, applying your expertise to optimise performance and enable operational excellence.
This role supports a wide range of technical and operational stakeholders with a focus on the overall mine ventilation system, underground environment and it’s impacts on safety, production, cost and achievement of the mine plan and future growth at Olympic Dam.
Rosters can be offered as 8/6 or 5/2, 4/3 with options to FIFO ex-Adelaide, DIDO or reside in Roxby Downs.
In This Role You Will
Ensure that all legislative, internal,
and best practice standards are met with respect to ventilation planning and OH&SSupport; the delivery and review of ventilation plans for development, production, and project activities; complying with legislative and internal standardsConsultation in monthly, stope & mine block, and 2YB/5YP planning processes with attention to safety, schedule, reliability and costsProvide alternatives and challenge the status quo to improve understanding of ventilation systems, plans, and practicesLiaise between stakeholders to support a comprehensive integrated mine planProvide input to Ventilation modelling and major projects (eg Circuit performance optimisation, Ventsim model calibration, Ventilation system surveys)Quarterly and monthly monitoring and reporting on health & performance of ventilation circuitsDemonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
About You
Mining Engineering degree or similarCompetency in mine ventilation and design software platforms (VentSim, Deswik)Ability to interpret limited measured / monitoring data, identify potential issues and causes of change, and develop processes to validate assumptionsAble to develop preferred and alternate ventilation strategies, identify and escalate potential risks and mitigating actionsExcellent communication skills including the ability to influence others, communicate complex concepts, and document clearly and conciselyAbility to work collaboratively across different work groups and proactively engage with a range of stakeholdersExperience in Mine Ventilation (eg ventilation execution, ventilation planning / scheduling, ventilation officer)Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction
