Established in 2013, the Perth Blood Institute is one of the largest haematology research centres in Australia. The Perth Blood Institute is a not-for-profit research institute focused on delivering the highest possible standard of care for people diagnosed with blood disorders.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Trial Coordinator / Research Nurse to join our Clinical Trials Unit in West Perth. This is a rewarding opportunity to combine advanced clinical care, end-to-end trial coordination and senior team support within a values-led research environment.

About the role
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working under the direction of Principal Investigators, you will oversee the safe, ethical and efficient delivery of clinical trials. You will provide direct and indirect participant care, coordinate studies from start-up through close-out, and act as a senior clinical resource for colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead participant screening, informed consent, enrolment, randomisation, clinical assessment and follow-up.
- Coordinate multiple clinical trials, keeping recruitment, milestones, study timelines and Sponsor expectations on track.
- Maintain high-quality study data, case report forms, source documentation, regulatory files and investigational product records.
- Prepare ethics and governance submissions and support safety, compliance and annual reporting.
- Coordinate participant visits, biological samples, supplies, monitoring visits, audits and study close-out activities.
- Build effective relationships with participants, carers, investigators, Sponsors, CRAs and regulatory stakeholders.
- Provide training, mentoring and competency support to study personnel and clinical site staff.
- Act as Deputy Operations Manager when required and contribute to policy, governance and quality-improvement initiatives.
About you
You are an organised, compassionate and solutions-focused clinical research professional who can balance participant care with rigorous trial delivery. You communicate confidently, exercise sound judgement and enjoy helping others succeed.
Essential requirements:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, or an equivalent tertiary health sciences qualification.
- Substantial clinical trials experience, ideally including at least five years in nursing and/or three years as a Clinical Trial Coordinator within industry-sponsored research.
- Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP E6(R3) and relevant Australian ethical and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent organisational, written communication, stakeholder management and digital skills.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and maintain precision under pressure.
- Integrity, discretion and a genuine commitment to participant safety, data quality and evidence-based care.
Desirable experience: early-phase trial experience; project management, audit, quality or risk-management capability; and experience within a research site, CRO or pharmaceutical organisation.
