About the role:
The Senior Developer plays a key role in providing application support including system analysis, development, enhancements, and maintenance of domain specific solutions hosted in Cloud environments. Working within the department's in-house Digital Solution Platform (DSP) team, the role contributes to the delivery of modern web development technologies and Microsoft Azure cloud across the Department.
The role is responsible for translating business requirements into high quality technical solutions through sound design, development, testing and deployment practices, while ensuring alignment with departmental standards, architecture, security and governance frameworks. The Senior Developer provides technical leadership within project and operational contexts, supporting the delivery of new capabilities, continuous improvement initiatives, and the ongoing maintenance and support of production systems.
In this role, the Senior Developer collaborates closely with project managers, functional analysts, architects, platform specialists and stakeholders to design reusable and sustainable solutions that meet evolving organisational needs. The role also contributes specialist expertise to problem resolution, incident management and enhancement activities, ensuring solutions are reliable, well documented and fit for purpose.
The Senior Developer maintains awareness of emerging development technologies and industry best practices and applies this knowledge to uplift capability across the team. Through mentoring and technical guidance, the role supports capability development within the DSP platform and contributes to improved development standards, innovation and delivery outcomes for the department.

About you:

Qualification/Specialist Expertise
- Relevant IT related degree or qualification will be highly advantageous to this role.
- Certification in PRINCE 2 or another project management methodology is strongly preferred, and experience with Agile projects is considered beneficial.
- Extensive experience as a Senior Developer, working for medium to large government or commercial organisations with software design patterns, development standards, and application frameworks.
- Designing services and collaborating with analysts and stakeholders to establish reusable solutions.
- Extensive experiences in the following disciplines:
Coding:

- Experience in a wide range of technologies and application designs, in particular .NET 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.x, .Net Core 1.x, 2.x and 3.x, .Net 6, 7 and 8 development, C#, Microsoft Enterprise Library frameworks (or equivalent) and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF).
- Experience working with Azure DevOps and building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Experience in developing web application using modern web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, SCSS, up-to-date JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS,
Angular and React and modern UI frameworks such as Bootstrap, Angular Material, PrimeNG
Integration:
- Integration patterns, service development (SOAP Web Services and RESTful APIs), API management (API security and usage policy definition) and SOA framework, as well as messaging formats (JSON and XML).
- Service design and working with analysts and stakeholders to define re-usable API services.
- Experience working with modern authentication technologies such as oAuth and SAML.
