Systems Engineer | Okta to Entra Project

- Preston, VIC (4 days onsite, 1 day WFH)
- 3-month initial contract (with likely extensions for future phases)
- $750 – $820 per day inclusive of super

The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer, ideally with with Identity & Access Management (IAM) experience to lead a crucial migration project from Okta to Entra ID (Azure AD) for a leading Enterprise Retail organisation.

Joining a dynamic Systems and Platform team, you will drive the delivery of this identity transformation while contributing to broader enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and future platform engineering phases.

You will collaborate closely with Cloud Engineers, Architects, Security, and DevOps professionals to ensure seamless technical execution across data centres, cloud platforms and retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Identity Migration: Lead the technical planning, design, and execution of migrating identity services from Okta to Entra ID.
- Project Delivery & Operations: Partner with project teams to design and deploy resilient enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Systems Administration: Manage, optimise and maintain the Microsoft ecosystem, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and robust networking operations (DNS/DHCP).
- Technical Guidance & Enablement: Consult, mentor, and advocate for contemporary systems engineering practices across cross-functional tech teams.
- Continuous Improvement:



Perform root cause analysis, resolve incidents, and implement automated controls and continuous delivery enhancements.

Selection Criteria

- Identity Focus: Experience delivering identity projects, specifically Okta and Entra ID (Azure AD) integrations or migrations highly beneficial
- Microsoft Stack Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, M365, Group Policy, and messaging services.
- Systems Engineering Expertise: Proven background in enterprise-scale systems engineering, system design principles, and infrastructure deployment.
- Core Networking Services: Strong understanding of core network protocols including DNS, DHCP, routing, and firewall concepts.
- Collaborative Mindset: Excellent communication skills with a passion for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

- Background working with hybrid cloud environments (Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with Platform Engineering, reusable infrastructure solutions, and observability/monitoring tooling.
- Hands-on exposure to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Linux OS (RedHat), and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps / GitHub).
