An exciting opportunity exists to join a well-established 900,000-acre breeder and backgrounding cattle operation located approximately 130km south of Charters Towers, Queensland. Supported by a large station team, you'll play a key role in keeping the machinery and vehicle fleet operating efficiently across the business. Reporting to station management, this position would suit a mechanic looking for greater variety, responsibility and the opportunity to step away from a traditional workshop environment. You'll have the support of station staff when required while taking ownership of the workshop and maintenance systems. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Carry out servicing, diagnostics,
repairs and breakdown maintenance across the station's vehicles, plant and machinery.
- Develop and manage a planned maintenance schedule and maintain an effective spare parts inventory.
- Maintain a safe, organised and efficient workshop while ensuring equipment is ready for station operations.
- Assist with training and supporting station staff in basic maintenance tasks and work collaboratively across the station team.
Selection Criteria:
- Trade-qualified mechanic (or equivalent) with strong fault-finding and repair skills across a range of heavy and light equipment.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and solve problems in a remote operational environment.
- Experience maintaining an organised workshop, inventory and preventative maintenance systems.
- Robust communication skills with the ability to work alongside and support a diverse station team.
