SAS Locksmiths
Perth
S.A.S Locksmiths is a Perth-based locksmith and security company. We work across on-road service, a retail shopfront, and the supply and manufacture of security products for businesses, mining clients and contractors. Our Leederville workshop is where a lot of that work gets built, keyed and repaired.
We’re looking for another good pair of hands on the bench.
About the role
Working from our Leederville workshop, you’ll be involved in:
• Manufacturing and preparing security products for mining and industrial clients
• Setting up, cutting and pinning restricted key systems
• General bench work — servicing, repairing and rebuilding locks and hardware
• Serving clients in the shop: cutting keys, answering questions, taking jobs in
• Keeping the workshop tidy, organised and secure
The work is varied. Some days are production runs for a mine site, some days are a one-off repair on a customer’s benchtop, and some days you’re behind the counter. If you like problem-solving with your hands and don’t want the same task twice in a row, this suits.
Who we’re looking for
We’re genuinely open on background, and we’ll consider you if you fit either of these:
A 2nd, 3rd or 4th year apprentice locksmith looking to finish their trade with a business that does a broad range of work — mining supply, restricted keying, retail and service — rather than one narrow slice of it.
A mature applicant with excellent hand skills. You may have no locksmithing background at all. If you’ve come from precision fitting, machining, cabinetmaking, gunsmithing, watchmaking, automotive, engineering or similar, and you’re accurate, patient and careful with fine work, we’re interested. We’ll teach you the locks.
Either way, we’re after:
• Genuine attention to detail — this trade is measured in fractions of a millimetre
• A steady, methodical approach and pride in your finished work
• Reliability — you turn up, on time, ready to go
• A tidy, respectful manner with clients at the counter
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• A current WA driver’s licence
• Australian work rights
• Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (a requirement of the security industry)
What’s on offer
• A permanent, full-time position in a stable Perth business
• Broad, varied work across mining, commercial and retail
• Genuine training and mentoring from experienced tradespeople
How to apply
Hit Apply and send through your resume, along with a few lines about your hand-skills background and what you’re looking for. If you’re a current apprentice, please tell us what year you’re in.
We review applications as they come in, so don’t sit on it.
