About the Opportunity

The Village Retirement Group is seeking a full-time Gardener to join the team at The Village on the Downs in Toowoomba.

Reporting to the Gardening Supervisor, you will work as part of a small, dedicated team responsible for maintaining the high-quality presentation of the village gardens and grounds.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Performing general garden maintenance such as mowing, edging, hedging, raking, reseeding, fertilising, spraying, and weeding

- Planting and watering trees, shrubs, ground covers, flowers, and hedges

- Carrying out mulching, turf renovation,



rejuvenation, and general refurbishment of garden areas

- Managing green waste, as well as weed and pest control

- Operating landscape maintenance equipment (e.g. ride-on mower) safely and in line with WHS procedures

- Maintaining and caring for all gardening tools and equipment

About You

- Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance is desirable.

- You are confident in safely operating a variety of equipment, including mowers, whipper snippers, hand tools, and both petrol and electric power tools.

- Experience handling hazardous materials or using pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides is an advantage.

- This is a physically active role, ideally suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and is capable of performing manual tasks on a regular basis.

- A current Driver’s Licence is required.

- You are personable, friendly, and professional, with the ability to communicate respectfully with residents and staff.

Additional Requirements:

- You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current criminal history check.

- A valid First Aid certificate with CPR is required.

- Annual flu vaccination is mandatory due to the nature of working with vulnerable residents.
