Head of Cricket
As our sports program continues to grow, Ivanhoe Grammar School is seeking a Head of Cricket to lead our Cricket program across Ridgeway, Plenty and the University Campus. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Sport and broader Sports team, you will oversee the delivery and development of the program, supporting student participation, skill development and enjoyment of the game.
This is a fixed-term position through until April 2027, with an immediate start available. The role requires regular attendance at training sessions which typically take place after school (3.00pm – 5.30pm), and Saturday fixtures, as well as oversight of teams across all three campuses.
We are seeking an experienced cricket coach and leader who is passionate about developing young people and contributing to a strong and inclusive sporting culture.
What you will do
As a key member of the Sports team, you will:
- Lead and develop the School’s Cricket program across Ridgeway, Plenty and the University Campus.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver quality cricket training, trials and match-day experiences.
- Develop a program overview,
including training sessions, pre-season activity, coaching requirements and key program timelines.
- Support consistent delivery of the cricket program for both boys and girls.
- Oversee team selection processes, including grading, communication and student feedback.
- Develop opportunities for students across all ability levels, including Firsts and Future Firsts players.
- Support the appointment, development and management of coaches.
- Promote a consistent approach to student management, player discipline and program expectations.
- Build strong connections with students, staff, families, AGSV/APS schools and the broader Ivanhoe community.
- Recognise and celebrate student achievement and contribution within the cricket program.
Who you are
You are an enthusiastic, organised and supportive leader with a genuine interest in sport and working with young people. You bring professionalism, initiative and a positive attitude, along with the ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider sporting community.
You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:
- Demonstrated experience in cricket coaching, with strong knowledge of the game.
- Experience supporting or developing a sporting program within a school or community environment.
- The ability to develop players at different stages, from participation through to higher performance levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to consult, collaborate and work well with others.
- The ability to support coach development and contribute to a consistent coaching approach.
- A commitment to child safety and appropriate professional behaviours when working with children.
- A current Working with Children Check or VIT registration.
- A relevant coaching qualification, current First Aid certificate and anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain these, is desirable.
