Position Overview
Based in either Brisbane or the Gold Coast, with regular engagement across our Queensland operations, Civilmart is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Estimating & Bid Manager to lead our Queensland tendering, estimating and major projects bid function.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for identifying, managing and securing opportunities across Queensland and Northern NSW, ensuring Civilmart remains at the forefront of major civil construction projects. Reporting to the Queensland Sales Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end estimating and bid process, manage project pipelines, coordinate tender submissions, and build solid relationships with customers, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
Leading a team of estimating and tendering professionals across both Civilmart and Auspits, you will drive a high-performing culture focused on tender excellence, major project success, continuous improvement and customer outcomes. You will play a key role in maximising market opportunities for Civilmart's precast concrete product range through accurate estimating, strategic bid management and proactive stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Queensland Estimating and Tendering team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Identify,
track and manage major project opportunities across Queensland and Northern NSW to maximise market penetration and project wins.
- Monitor and manage opportunities across multiple tender platforms.
- Review contract documents and work closely with our in-house contracts team.
- Review and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications and project documentation to prepare accurate take-offs and estimates.
- Prepare and submit high-quality tenders, quotations and bids within required timeframes and project specifications.
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Drafting and Production teams to ensure timely and competitive tender submissions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, consultants, councils and other key project stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings, project briefings and site visits to support tender development and business growth opportunities.
- Manage and maintain tender records, project pipelines and reporting systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Analyse tender outcomes, track win/loss performance and provide insights and recommendations to improve future success rates.
- Identify opportunities for specialist precast concrete products within project specifications and designs.
- Support the Queensland Sales Manager by providing market intelligence, project updates and strategic recommendations to secure key projects.
About You
- Proven experience in an Estimating Manager, Bid Manager,
Senior Estimator or similar role within the civil construction, infrastructure or manufacturing sectors.
- Solid ability to read, interpret and analyse civil construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Demonstrated experience preparing accurate take-offs, estimates, quotations and tender submissions.
- Sound understanding of the civil construction market and major project tendering processes.
- Ability to lead, coach and develop team members while fostering a team-oriented and results-focused culture.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tenders, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities that maximise business growth and profitability.
- Experience using multiple industry tender and project management platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Teams, with strong reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Self-motivated, proactive and professional, with a robust work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
